Rev. Dr. Wanda Suddreth Neely, Interim Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Wanda Suddreth Neely comes to First Presbyterian Church of Morganton from serving as senior pastor/head of staff at First Presbyterian Church of Kinston, NC. 


Before serving at Kinston, Wanda served as co-pastor/co-head of staff at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, NC, and before that as pastor/head of staff at Union Presbyterian Church of Gastonia, NC. Wanda came to positions in pastoring from Providence Presbytery, where she served as associate executive for education and church development and acting executive. She has also served as a campus minister for the campuses of Charleston, SC, and interim and stated supply pastor and chaplain at the Medical University of South Carolina and at Vidant Medical Center.


A graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Wanda earned a Master of Divinity at Southeastern Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC, and completed her Doctor of Ministry at Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA, with dissertation work in medical ethics.

 

Wanda is married to the Rev. Dr. William K. Neely, who will be retiring in 2017 from serving as senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, NC. The Neelys have three children and two grandchildren.

Rev. Adam C. Bowling, Associate Pastor

Adam grew up as a member of King's Grant Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where at age thirteen he had the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land with an adult Sunday school class. This trip became a turning point for him in his faith formation as a youth.


After high school, Adam attended Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, a Presbyterian-affiliated school, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology and Religion. It was at a residential summer camp, Camp Hanover, where Adam felt the call to the ministry and also met his wife, Erin. Adam attended Union Presbyterian Seminary in Virginia and graduated with a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Arts in Christian Education in 2007.


At First Pres, Adam serves as Associate Pastor and Vice Moderator of Session. He enjoys traveling, singing, playing trumpet, white water rafting, live theater, magic, and theme parks. He and Erin have been blessed with two boys, Parker and Chase.

Robert A. Smith, Director of Music

The music program at First Presbyterian is under the direction of Robert A. Smith, who has served the church as Director of Music since 1998. A graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College and the Yale School of Music, he is a Caldwell County native who has served as music director in diverse denominational settings. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory.

Lori Murray, Office Administrator

Lori Murray was born and raised in Upstate New York and moved to the Washington, DC, area where she worked, married, and raised her three children. Lori and her husband, Pat, moved to Morganton in 2007. Lori has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and an Associate of Science Degree from SUNY/Broome. Her experience includes administrative and financial work for a major corporation and managing the office of her former church in Maryland. Lori enjoys literature, music, nature, fitness, and travel.

Robyn Herrera, Administrative Assistant

Robyn Herrera was born and raised in Dallas, TX, and is married with two children. Robyn and her family moved from Texas to Western North Carolina in 2010. Robyn’s work experience includes fifteen years as Administrative Assistant to a Vice President of North American Sales for a company in the telecom industry. Robyn enjoys spending time with her family, working in her garden, and attending her daughter’s travel soccer games.

Lynn Webber










 

Rev. Lynn Webber, Parish Associate for Pastoral Care

Lynn has served as an associate pastor, pastor, and hospital chaplain during her twenty years of ordained ministry and worked previously as Parish Associate for Pastoral Care and Adult Spiritual Formation at First Presbyterian in Hickory.  She lives with her husband, Tom, and almost teenage daughter, Elizabeth, in Black Mountain, where she enjoys hiking, gardening, yoga, music, and a wide variety of amazing friends.

Cornelio


Cornelio (CJ) Juarez, Church Custodian
Cornelio and his wife, Nicole, have two young daughters, Anna Elaine and Monica Joann.  Cornelio enjoys playing soccer, loves the outdoors, and most of all, loves and enjoys spending time with his family.
